The “Sanku” fish trap is an embodiment of the fishing culture of the Kavalan Tribe. The bamboo rattan technique transforms the fishing device into a lighting accessory that enchants the soul.
Transforming the ancient craft of bark cloth into flowers of life that are original and filled with gentle quality, we gathered tribal artisans and artists to collaborate in creating bamboo weavings, building the curved bamboo hallway that rises and falls just like mountains and encouraging interaction with plants through ancient bark cloth craft. As participants engage in the repeating process of peeling, hammering, drying and hooking, a connection between the self and others, self and nature, is formed.
